The bamboo looks and feels very nice. I have the compact version, and it's perfect for my small kitchen. It works great for flattening. My only suggestion is to use a piece of parchment paper to prevent sticking when pressing really wet slices, but otherwise, it's very versatile and makes the process much faster.

Q Is this suitable for making mofongo?

A No, Mofongo requires mashing/grinding the fried plantains, usually in a Pilon (mortar and pestle). This press is specifically designed for shaping Tostones (flat or cups) *before* their final fry. We recommend a Pilón mortar for mofongo.

Q How does the cup shaping feature work?

A Our press is 2-in-1! One side (as seen in image_148.png) has a built-in rounded knob. When you press a plantain segment with this end, the segment is forced around the knob, creating a perfect cup shape.

Q Does it come with a stand or is it wall-mounted?

A No, it is a handheld tool. Image_152.png shows a small hole in the upper handle, which allows you to hang it from a hook for storage if desired, but it does not include a stand.

Q Is it dishwasher safe?

A We recommend hand washing with mild soap and warm water only, then immediately wiping dry. Do not put it in the dishwasher, as extreme heat and prolonged water exposure can damage the bamboo and cause warping.
